Après leur retraite lors de la bataille de Toba-Fushimi, le Shinsengumi se rend à Kôfu. Les combats et guerres intestines s’enchaînent rendant la situation difficile. Les membres du Shinsengumi contestent les décisions du commandement et décident de suivre leur propre voie… Chizuru choisi malgré tout de rester avec le Shinsengumi tout comme Hijikata. Mais leurs chemins vont-t-ils les éloigner l’un de l’autre ?
