L’histoire se centre sur Tsuneo, un étudiant universitaire travaillant à temps partiel dans un club de Mah-jong. Ces derniers jours, les clients parlent d’une vieille femme se déplaçant avec un mystérieux landau.
Un jour, il découvre ce qu’il se trouve dans ce landau : une jeune fille paraplégique du nom de Kumiko mais qui se fait appeler Josée, un nom provenant de son livre favori.
Ainsi, une amitié se développe entre eux, jusqu’à peu à peu se transformer en amour.
