Seuls des guerriers Period peuvent combattre des créatures fantastiques appelées Spirals. Celles-ci naissent à partir de l’âme d’une personne morte dans l’agonie. Hal a échoué 38 fois au test d’admission des Periods mais il a toutefois été admis par accident comme assistant dans la 8e Division du commandement Arc End. Il est alors amené à former lui-même une nouvelle équipe avec d’autres aspirants Period. C’est le début d’une grande aventure durant laquelle il va faire ses preuves.
